Lend a helping paw
We are a small, rural shelter working hard to bring change to the world through improving the life of one pet at a time.

About Us
Our Beliefs
We believe in a world where every dog and cat will be able to lay there head down at night well-cared for and without worry of tomorrow.
We work hard to ensure every animal that comes through that door feels that kind of love as much as possible.

How You Can Help
Donate
While the county supports the main needs of the shelter, we could not do what we do without the help of the community. From monetary donations to cover unexpected medical expenses and special enrichment items to donations of supplies, toys, treats and food, it all goes towards a better tomorrow for our animals.
Become a Volunteer
There are so many ways to volunteer with us! From fostering to taking pups on Doggy Day Outs to coming in and walking or playing with the dogs, every little bit not only helps, but is beneficial to our animals and helps them be better prepared for potential adoption.
Sponsor a pet
Many people wish to help our animals, but are not in the place to adopt a pet. When this happens, a great way to support that pet is to sponsor part or all of a pet’s adoption fee. Sometimes the perfect home is just a sponsorship away.

Testimonials
What People Say After Adopting Shelter Dogs
“Happy is loved more than you can imagine. He has a boy and the boy has a dog. They are already best buds. They play together and sleep together. He is the best boy.
Adopter of Happy, 2.5-year-old dog
A few years ago we went to the Mason County Animal Shelter to get a kitten, but this sweet girl with her puppy dog eyes stole our hearts and came home with us instead . She is everyone’s best friend. We can not imagine life without her. She has brought so much joy to our family. She even turned a cat person into a dog person

No kill shelter- 2023
We were honored to be named a No-Kill Shelter for the year 2023 by Best Friends Society. In order to achieve this status a shelter must exceed a 90% save rate for both cats and dogs.
Words cannot express our gratitude for all that support us in this endeavor or to our staff who does a phenomenal job caring for these babies until they find their forever people!
Now, to continue this phenomenal trend!

Support
While the shelter is funded and managed by the Mason County Commission, we have been honored to receive grants from the PetcoLove and Best Friends Foundations to further our life saving efforts. We are also privileged to work with Adopt-a-Pet and. Bissell Pet Foundation in our animal adoption journey.
